ABOUT US

Casa Padic is a family-owned winery located in the village of Catemu, in Chile’s Aconcagua Valley.

The project was founded in 2023 by entrepreneur Patricio Collao (1961–2024), who dreamed of planting his own vineyards and making wines that faithfully reflect the land where he grew up.

The story began with the acquisition of a 9.5-hectare estate in the La Colonia sector. Of this, 7.5 hectares were dedicated to vineyard planting. The remaining land is home to an imposing, timeworn country house—silent witness to a prosperous agricultural past linked to tobacco cultivation in the area.

Today, the project is led by his sons, Patricio and Diego, who have chosen to carry forward the family legacy. Alongside vineyard development, they have begun restoring the house, its gardens, and surroundings, envisioning a future winery, tasting room, and visitor center.

Casa Padic aims to position itself as an emerging winery in the Aconcagua Valley, combining a strong sense of place, heritage, and an innovative wine tourism project from a small village with a remarkable story to tell.

A DREAM,
A LEGACY

Patricio Collao, originally from Villa Alemana, was a well-known entrepreneur in the mining services industry, primarily operating in Llay Llay, where he built his home and raised his family.

However, his connection to this land dates back to his early years. In the 1970s, he traveled from Viña del Mar to the Las Vegas sector for work, forging a quiet yet lasting bond with rural life and the Aconcagua Valley.

In 2020, during the pandemic and while still actively involved in his business ventures, he acquired an old estate with a country house in Catemu. His vision was clear: to restore it and develop his own agricultural project.

The property had remained for years in legal disputes and inheritance processes, suffering deterioration and neglect. Even so, the house retained valuable original features, such as its second floor clad in larch wood shingles—characteristic of constructions linked to the tobacco industry that once defined the area’s productive history.

At the same time, an opportunity arose to acquire bulk wine from a winery in the Aconcagua Valley and bottle it under his own label.

This marked the beginning of his dream of having “his own wine,” initially intended to share with close friends, family, and collaborators.

In June 2024, Patricio Collao passed away unexpectedly at the age of 63. Just three months earlier, he had bottled his first wines and was in the process of defining the final name for his label.

His sons, Patricio and Diego, inherited this early-stage project—the estate and its first bottles—and chose to bring it to life as a way to honor his memory and continue his vision.

The name Casa Padic was chosen by Patricio before his passing. “Padic” is formed from the initials of Patricio and Diego, symbolizing unity and family continuity. The word “Casa” was equally intentional: it refers not only to the house currently being restored, but also to everything a home represents—warmth, trust, positive energy, meaningful conversations, and lasting moments.
